Before arranging a clean, make a short list of the rooms involved. Approximate dimensions are enough for an initial conversation; include stairs, landings and any areas hidden beneath furniture. A fitted carpet and a loose rug should be discussed separately.
Share what you know about the carpet.
A care label, fitting receipt or spare offcut can help identify the material. If you do not have one, say so. Tell the cleaner about earlier treatments and any products applied to marks, even when a product appeared to have no effect.
Point out loose edges, damaged seams, colour changes and areas that have become hard or sticky. Cleaning is not a repair, and wear or permanent dye changes can remain after the soil is removed.
Agree which furniture will move.
Clear small, fragile and personal items from the working area if you can do so safely. Do not move a heavy cabinet or disconnect equipment on the assumption that it is necessary. Agree what stays, what can be moved and who is responsible before the visit.
- Put delicate ornaments and loose cables somewhere safe.
- Mention furniture that cannot be moved.
- Keep access routes clear without creating a trip hazard elsewhere.
Talk about access and drying.
Let the cleaner know about parking restrictions, stairs, shared entrances and the distance from a vehicle to the room. Discuss access to suitable facilities and any building rules, rather than leaving those decisions until arrival.
Drying depends on the material, method and room conditions. Ask how ventilation should be managed and when furniture and everyday traffic can return. Arrange a clear space for children and pets while the room is being used for the work.
Avoid a last-minute experiment.
Adding detergent or trying several stain products before a visit can complicate the assessment. Share the history of a mark and follow the carpet maker’s care guidance. If a spill is recent, seek material-specific advice rather than treating this general note as an instruction for every fibre.
When you are ready, choose carpet cleaning in the enquiry and add any access or material details in the optional note. This demo uses sample details and sends nothing.
