A little everyday care for your sofa.

Labels, loose crumbs and the position of a favourite chair all matter. Start with the material rather than a cleaning shortcut.

A sofa is several materials working together: the face fabric, filling, stitching, trim and any backing. Everyday care works best when it follows the instructions for the complete piece. A removable cover does not automatically mean a washable cover.

Read the label before reaching for a product.

Keep the manufacturer’s care instructions if you have them. Cleaning symbols, fabric composition and restrictions help a professional assess the piece. If the label is missing or unclear, mention that rather than guessing the material from its appearance.

Water, heat and rubbing can affect some fabrics. This note does not recommend a universal stain treatment. Follow material-specific care guidance and ask for advice when a spill or mark is uncertain.

Keep loose soil from settling in.

Where the care instructions allow, gentle regular vacuuming with a suitable clean attachment can collect crumbs and loose dust. Take care around seams, fringes and delicate trim. Avoid an aggressive brush or high suction on a fabric that could snag.

Check beneath removable cushions for small objects before replacing them. Turn or rotate cushions only when the furniture’s construction and care instructions permit it.

Notice light and everyday use.

A favourite seat can show different wear from other cushions and panels. Strong sunlight may also change colour over time. Cleaning cannot put worn fibres back or restore every faded panel, so those differences should be part of the initial conversation.

Discuss armrests, headrests and any old marks when requesting an assessment. Previous products, loose dyes and water-sensitive fibres can affect the method and the likely result.

Plan a suitable cleaning window.

Before an upholstery clean is agreed, ask which parts are included and how the furniture should be left while it dries. Consider where people will sit and how cushions can be kept clear. Do not assume that a piece will be ready for use at a fixed time without advice for that material and visit.

The enquiry form has a sofas and chairs option. One contact detail and an approximate size are enough to begin the local demonstration; no message or booking is created.
